Tenets by which I live and work:
- Always toward Excellence. I must admit that I have rarely achieved excellence. I am always seeking it but refuse to not turn out something 95% excellent because it is not 100%. Waiting for something to be 100% can be paralyzing. If you have to do something in a timely manner or 100%, choose time over the last few percent – it is more valuable.
- Failure is a great education. I do not aim to fail but will not allow fear of failure to handicap me, but when I risk it must come in line with my priorities.
- Be Passionate. Passion can cover a multitude of weaknesses. Whenever possible pursue that which stirs your soul.
- True impact is seen after you leave the room. The results of leadership are seen after your gone. You will leave a mark on people and the places where you tread. Leave a good one.
- Stuff can be replaced. All things considered, what matters at the end of my life is my relationships not my stuff. Stuff is a tool to show love, appreciation, compassion and faithfulness. Make sure you use it as such.
- Your word matters. You may not give it out much but when you do go through the shadow of death to keep it. Your word is one of those intangible things that you give that can never be taken back, regardless the situation.
- Honor always pays, always. There will be times when you fail. Even in failure pursue honor. Honor will never bite you in the back regardless of the loneliness of its pursuit.
My Priorities:
- My God. Jesus Christ died for me, paying my debt that I was unable to pay. In return, He gets my life. My life for His. I get the better end of the deal. Praise God.
- My Wife. She is the most important person on the planet to me and will therefore get the best of what I have.
- My Son. My son is the apple of my eye and the joy of my heart. My biggest dream is to watch my son become a godly man.
If these are truly my priorities then my time and money should reflect them.
